December 21st, 2024. 16:00 hours

It was a cheerful Saturday - a Saturday one would remember, potentially forever, particularly those who had won the lucky prizes.

I’m sorry, didn’t quite get what I’m referring to?

Onwards, my fellow presbyopes - grab your reading glasses and read on.

[honestly, we don’t do care about attending social events]

We had our flowery Departmental Tea/Dinner at the luxurious Roomah @Publika and boy weren’t we glad to catch up with our newly-minted specialists – which also meant that we’d have to address them as “Doctors so and so” at this stage. Eww.

[the said itinerary in case my journalistic discourse does not gain any trust from the public]

A professional emcee was enlisted amongst the trainees (?at a fee) and it was a worthy investment – a win for the tea party! It was filled with laughter, so loud our neighbouring ENT patients miraculously regained their hearing.

[the thorny emcee (Saniy) amongst the roses (L-R; Maya, Hanna, Ker Dee, Ezza)]

Anyways, the memory lane was walked upon, treaded gracefully and revisiting awkward moments and on-call encounters. One would think that we held the event to run away from work and yet, here we are – work decided to pay a friendly visit.

Nobody informed about the food being served and I did not attend due to personal reasons (oh, boo hoo), so I won’t be covering the gastronomie magnifique as I would for my previous writings.

[three ladies guarding the entrance, pretending to be the blood-brain barrier
(L-R; Hani, Farra, Sebrina the 2nd emcee)]

Whilst food was serving, they had summoned upon Prof Nurliza to distribute the gifts of joy. And Prof Nurliza being Prof Nurliza, prizes were thrown around as if she was Oprah (this is, of course, an over-dramatisation). For a complete list of award winners, please see the table appended at the end of this rant.

Rosé’s apa-tuh-apa-tuh was an absolute hit amongst us Gen-Zs, incorporating the enchanting song into our Tik-Tok. Unfortunately, this poor author of yours has no clue on dealing with the intricacies of incorporating videos onto this website (your eyes and ears have been spared with much mercy). The consultants, on the other hand, had a ball with the placards and photo sessions.

[not Prof Mimi being a gangster by flipping her finger
(jokes, clearly was doing a Korean love heart – please don’t ask me difficult questions Prof Mimi thx)]

[Whoever wrote the placards deserves a raise (oh we wish) except for one correction – TCA dah penuh untuk 9 bulan. Someone clearly has not been in clinic for some time]

And tick tock, when the clock strikes 8,

We all went to bed.

Till then!
