Enter the field of Ophthalmology – the Land of the Brave, Leader of Work-Life Balance, and Meadow of Eternal Happiness.

The clinics could have never ran smoothly without Santa’s diligent helpers and who are they other than our fellow nursing colleagues.

Who could instill mydriatics onto tiny globes without shedding tears nor unleash the wrath of the screeching Mandrakes? Who provides comfort for these miniscule beings by swaddling them in our limited-edition luxurious cotton blankies? Not us trainees for sure. We do the complete opposite – disc-pink-clear-margin-CDR 0.3-good-foveal-reflex-vessels-not-tortuous and off we go onto our next baby in the waiting room.

To honour our beloved nurses who have reached their Golden Age (hint: it’s 20 years old), the clinical staff organised a memorable celebration at an undisclosed hotel – filled with tears and laughter – and also revelations of untapped skills such as karaoke which in all honesty should have left untapped. Videos were recorded but shall remain in our phones. Nonetheless, we were all happy.

A round of applause to these lovely ladies who have held the fort (and Pred Forte he he he) with all their might and full of dedication:

L to R: Pn Devika Alagan (25/2/25); Pn Manisah Md Salleh (23/11/25); Pn Faridah Kamal (3/10/25)

As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, they will always be remembered for their professionalism, kindness, leadership, and the positive influence they’ve had on us young-ins.

Enjoy your retirement fellow Akaks – do drop by the clinic and say hello!

Till then!
